She caps the 15-song listing with “Lexii’s Outro” to commemorate late Minnesota-based rapper Lexii Alijai, who first collaborated with Kehlani on “Jealous” from the Bay Area crooner’s 2015 mixtape You Should Be Here. Kehlani painted a complete picture of her sophomore album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t by revealing the entire tracklist featuring Tory Lanez, Jhené Aiko, Masego, Lucky Daye and James Blake today (May 4). Kehlani initially gave hints for her sophomore album on January 27th through a now-deleted Instagram post on the 3rd anniversary of her debut album, SweetSexySavage. stay SAFE luv y’all,” Kehlani said at the time. “not thinking about music at the moment, focused on how to just be a good citizen to society at this time. The album, which follows her 2017 debut SweetSexySavage, was originally due this month, but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. A year and two months later, we’re finally at the point that Kehlani’s new project is here. Last February, she shared another project, While We Wait to hold fans over for the release of her new LP. Kehlani’s last album was her 2017 debut, SweetSexySavage. That previous track was about making sure a partner realizes how much of a catch she is. It felt like a companion piece to “You Know Wassup,” the angry relationship jam that she dropped last November. She seemingly freed herself from these frustrations with the release of the steamiest music video of the year so far for “Toxic” in which she dances sensually in front of her webcam. She’s recently dropped “Valentine’s Day (Shameful), “Toxic,” and “Everybody Business” that all trudge through muddy relationship waters. It’s nice to hear that Kehlani’s new music is right around the corner. Paired with the back cover, we come into the question of is the grass really greener on the other side? Good things are good… until they aren’t. “The sun is shining, the sky is blue, but clearly something has gotten my attention. “The album cover is a depiction of the never-ending duality of ‘good’ and ‘bad.’ It’s a tale of perspective,” she says in a press release. In a statement, she detailed the meaning of the album art. Kehlani broke the news today (April 24) on her birthday by posting its cover on Instagram.
